Fort Wayne man sentenced for unregistered securities sales

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne investor has received a suspended sentence for selling unregistered securities.

The Indiana Secretary of State’s office says Scott A. Benjamin was sentenced to a five-year suspended sentence and three years probation, as well as ordered to pay over $21,000 in restitution to one victim.

Benjamin, owner of Orange Financial Investments, allegedly convinced an Adams County couple to invest $20,000 in a CD through his company, promising quarterly interest checks that were either inconsistent or sporadic.

Prosecutors say none of the products Benjamin was selling were registered with the state, and the sales were going toward his personal expenses.
