Docs Warn About Certain Fever Meds for Kids

A new report from the I-U School of Medicine is warning parents of kids suffering from a fever of the about the risks of significant kidney injury from given drugs such as ibuprofen and naproxen. The article says that nearly 3 percent of cases of pediatric acute kidney injury studied over a decade could be traced directly to having taken such anti-inflammatory drugs, especially when the kids were dehydrated.  They say a fever is normal during an infection one alternative to the dangerous meds would be acetaminophen, another would be no medication at all, at least for a while, to let the body fight the infection on its own.
