DALE, Ind. (AP) – A blaze erupted in a fireworks store in a southern Indiana town, destroying the two-story building as fireworks shot out.
 
Firefighters found flames shooting from the roof and windows when they arrived at the building Tuesday evening in the Spencer County town of Dale. Officials say the residents of three apartments on the top floor all escaped and no injuries were reported.
 
Carter Fire District Chief Dan Reinke tells WFIE-TV that fireworks shot 150 feet from the store, hitting a nearby house and flying across the street. That forced firefighters to stay back from the burning building for a time in the town about 40 miles northeast of Evansville.
 
The fire burned through the building’s roof and leveled much of the structure. Firefighters didn’t immediately know the blaze’s cause.
