Indiana Begins to Get Handle on Gun Permit Backlog

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (AP): Indiana State Police are starting to get a handle on a backlog in firearm license applications that followed last year's deadly Connecticut school shootings. State Police saw a four-fold increase in firearm license applications following the December shooting rampage. Officials are required to issue or deny requests within 60 days, but the backlog pushed processing time to more than 110 days.
