Pence: Ex-PM Sharon Dedicated to Israeli Security

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana leaders are praising the legacy of Ariel Sharon following the death of the former Israeli prime minister.

Governor Mike Pence says Sharon was a soldier and a leader who served his nation in war and peace.

Pence and first lady Karen Pence met privately with Sharon during a 2004 congressional trip to Israel.

The Israeli soldier-turned-politician-turned statesman died on Saturday, eight years after a stroke put him in a coma. He was 85.

Republic Representative Luke Messer says “Sharon was a fearless soldier and strong leader, whose tireless work, influence and legacy will always be remembered.”
