2nd rescue at C. Indiana bridge in as many days

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP): Someone has been rescued from the same spot on the rain-swollen White River in central Indiana for the second time in as many days.

Division Chief Rick Russell of the Noblesville Fire Department says Sherry Fleener of Sheridan was kayaking Sunday near the Potters Bridge she struck a downed tree and overturned. He says Fleener wasn't wearing a life jacket and found clinging to a tree when firefighters arrived. They tried to throw flotation devices to her without success, so Lt. Jim Trietsch donned one and floated out to her.

Russell says that when Trietsch reached Fleener, they were able to float to another kayak and make it back to shore.

On Saturday, a man jumped into the river at the covered bridge to rescue a woman and her son.
