Daughter: Mom Might Fave Felt Trapped With Captive

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ The daughter of a southwestern Indiana woman charged with helping hold another woman captive for two months says her mother might have also felt trapped.

Maranda Higgs is the daughter of 44-year-old Kendra Tooley, who is charged with 37-year-old Ricky House Jr. for allegedly holding a 30-year-old woman inside their rural Posey County mobile home. Authorities say the woman was raped, beaten and kept in a small wooden cage.

Higgs tells WFIE-TV her mother and the woman were friends after working together at a restaurant and had barbeques together. Higgs says her mother is good at putting on a smile and pretending.

Higgs says she hasn't seen her mother since Easter and hopes to visit her in jail next week.
