At Least 10 Cases of Enterovirus D68 Now Confirmed in Indiana

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): At least 10 cases of Enterovirus D68 have been confirmed in Indiana with more test results on the way.

The number of local residents heading to the hospital with the respiratory illnesses was recently three times higher than what local health officials were seeing at this time last year, according to the Elkhart County Health Department.

However, the number of cases is already dropping. They say at this point, it's hard to tell whether or not the virus will make a comeback in Indiana because this is the first time it’s spread so widely. The illness typically lasts a week or two and is highly contagious.
