VINCENNES, Ind. (AP): Two southwestern Indiana school districts that have long been sports rivals may soon team up on mission to significantly cut their energy bills.

The school boards of the Vincennes Community School Corp. and Washington Community Schools will hold a joint meeting Wednesday to consider signing a contract with Texas-based energy consulting firm Cenergistic.

If the districts sign onto the deal, Cenergistic would assign a full-time energy specialist to spend the next five years tweaking the heating and cooling systems of the districts' schools to bring them to peak efficiency.

Washington Community Schools Superintendent Daniel Roach was formerly superintendent for Greensburg schools in southeastern Indiana.

Greensburg schools have saved more than $2.5 million on utility bills since signing a contract in 2008 with Cenergistic.
