INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Advocates for Indiana's military veterans say their priorities are being largely ignored in this year's General Assembly session.

But lawmakers say veterans groups may have hurt their causes by introducing 48 bills. At least a dozen required state funding.

All but 10 died, and two of the remaining bills address the same issue — FINANCIAL AID and tuition for National Guard members.

Senate Appropriations Chairman Luke Kenley says the veterans “had a pretty big wish list” that ought to have been pared down but that they weren't the only ones.

More than 1,200 bills were filed this year in the House and Senate, and legislators have cut hundreds of measures pertaining to a variety of issues.
