Sexual-Assault Survivors Film Video to Raise Awareness

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP): Survivors of sexual assault have filmed a public service announcement in hopes of raising awareness of sexual violence.

Nine men and women from across Indiana gathered Sunday on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute. Each read a statement that began with the words “I am'' while being filmed.

The messages included “I am hope,'' “I am unbreakable'' and “I am alive.''

The video was the idea of rape survivor Malea Crosby. She says she hopes to release it by the weekend as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The film is expected to be about two minutes long. Crosby says it will initially be shared on social media, but she hopes it receives wider circulation.
