Man Found Guilty in Stabbing Death of Woman Stuffed in Chest

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): A 61-year-old Indianapolis man has been found guilty of stabbing a 24-year-old woman to death last March and stuffing her body inside a wooden chest.

A jury came back with the guilty verdict this week for James Wade Jr. after a three-day trial. Authorities say Jazmine Trammell was stabbed more than 80 times, and that DNA testing confirmed her blood was found splattered throughout Wade's apartment in Lawrence.

Court documents say apartment staff found Trammell's body inside a chest next to trash bin at the apartment complex, and that they learned about the chest's presence from a handwritten note.

According to court records, Wade is scheduled to be sentenced May 1.
