Delaware County Sheriff Dies

MUNICE, Ind. (WOWO): Delaware County Sheriff Mike Scroggins died early this morning nearly a week after having shoulder surgery. 

Scroggins died in Ohio, at the home of a woman he was dating.The exact cause of death was not released.   

Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler says Scroggins had a history of health problems, including multiple back surgeries. The 52-year-old and his family had a long history of public service and public safety. 

The Chief Deputy and other active officers will be charge until a caucus meets to fill the sheriff‘s position until the next election for that office in 2018.
