WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. (AP) _ A man who allegedly overpowered a deputy and stole her police cruiser will be held without bond as he awaits trial on escape and auto theft charges.

A Warren Circuit Court judge ordered 25-year-old Marcus Bramlett held without bond Wednesday and appointed a public defender for him.

The (Lafayette) Journal & Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/1dfp5BI ) that a Tippecanoe County deputy was transporting Bramlett from a hospital to the county jail in Lafayette on May 15 when he allegedly attacked her.  Police said Bramlett jumped into the car driver's seat and drove away when the deputy stopped her patrol car and got out. 

The deputy fired one round at Bramlett, which struck her patrol car's driver's side window. 

Bramlett spent time in adjacent Warren County before he was captured the following day.
