Purdue University Expanding Wireless Internet Off-Campus

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Purdue University is expanding its Wi-Fi network off campus.

The (Lafayette) Journal and Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/1LduJmr ) that there's a partnership among the university and the cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette that lets students, faculty and staff access Purdue's secure network. The system works anywhere Wi-Fi is publicly available.

Purdue's chief information officer Gerry McCartney says now the Purdue community can access certain services that were previously unavailable outside campus.

Some the sites include the West Lafayette Farmers Market and Tippecanoe County Public Library.
