BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ The Indiana Geological Survey has published a new high-resolution state map created using some of the latest techniques in digital technology.

The new map was prepared using data collected over a three-year period by specially-equipped aircraft that flew over the entire state. Those flights recorded subtle differences in surface features using laser pulses.

State Geologist John Steinmetz says Indiana is now one of only eight states with complete coverage using that laser surface mapping technology and the only state to make that data available to the public in map form. The full-color maps include highways and roads, waterways, county seats and population data.

The maps can be ordered online from the Indiana Geological Survey Bookstore. The cost is $10 plus tax and shipping.
