Lawmaker Seeks Review Of Central Indiana Reservoir Proposal

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) _ A state lawmaker wants a legislative committee to review the proposed construction of a reservoir on the White River in central Indiana that could cost $450 million.

Democratic Rep. Sue Errington of Muncie tells The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/1DcT1e4 ) she opposes plans for the seven-mile-long Mounds Lake between Anderson and Muncie and that there are many questions the Legislature's study committee on environmental affairs should consider.

Project supporters say the reservoir could help the state's long-term water needs and attract investment and residents to the area. Opponents say the project would waste millions of dollars and cause environmental damage.

Republican Sen. Ed Charbonneau of Valparaiso says he believes the reservoir project merits discussion, but isn't sure the committee he leads will be able to review it this year.
