FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The developers of the residential component of the Ash Skyline Plaza project are asking for money to help build it.

Great Lakes Capital was announced recently as the city of Fort Wayne’s pick for the downtown development, saying they’ll put up $40-million toward building 124 apartments, plus office and retail space. Tuesday, they met with the Northeast Indiana Regional Development Authority to ask for part of the $42-million Regional Cities grant the area recently received from Governor Mike Pence, according to the Journal Gazette.

The board didn’t make an official commitment, but the paper notes the board seemed excited about the project and interested in helping with the investment, citing beliefs that the Plaza will lure young professionals to Fort Wayne. Construction on the residential portion is expected to begin in May. That’s also when Ash Brokerage’s headquarters and business side is set to be finished.
