Man Charged with Murder After Jewelry Store Owner Slain

SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (AP) _ A prosecutor has charged a man with murder in the slaying of a southern Indiana jewelry store owner.

Scott County Prosecutor Jason Mount charged 21-year-old James Matthew Caudill of Austin with murder, felony murder, robbery and other counts Friday in connection with the Nov. 7 shooting death of 79-year-old John Turner of John's Coin and Jewelry in Austin, about 30 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.

His brother, 31-year-old Christopher Caudill of Austin, is charged with assisting a criminal, theft and other counts.

Online court records show neither man has an attorney. They're both in custody after being arrested Monday.

Police say officers found money, jewelry and other items associated with Turner's killing at the home the brothers share.
