Off-Duty Officer Revives Man

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WOWO): A Huntington County man is alive today after the quick action of an Indiana State trooper last week.

Master Trooper Trent Kiefer was off-duty shopping at Walmart in Huntington when he used a defibrillator to revive a 48-year-old man. The man was unresponsive, with no pulse.

Authorities say his actions were enough to buy time for medics to arrive. The man was breathing on his own before being transported to a local hospital.

In 2007, Parkview Huntington Hospital funded defibrillators for state troopers to keep in their cars.
