FWPD Mourns Fallen Officer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police says Sergeant Todd Hammel died Wednesday, but did not confirm a cause of death – only saying it did not occur while he was on duty.

A statement from the police department called him “an energetic, promising young officer.”

He's remembered for saving two people from a burning home in 2005 and teaching with Indiana Tech's criminal justice program.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
