ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): A Steuben County man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, police were called to West County Road 400 North just before 12:30 Wednesday afternoon to find 51-year-old Rusty Smith of Angola dead near the road from a gunshot wound. Witnesses told police they saw his son, 25-year-old Cody Smith, flee the scene with a woman and an infant.

Smith was later arrested at a home on West Nevada Mills Road without incident.

Smith was charged with murder. The woman was also arrested but released without charges, and the child was taken into custody by the Department of Child Services.
