MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): A man who police say dragged an officer more than 280 feet while trying to flee a traffic stop is facing multiple charges.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports 53-year-old William Oliver Jackson Jr. of Muncie was formally charged Tuesday with aggravated battery, resisting law enforcement, two counts of dealing in a narcotic drug and marijuana possession.

Jackson was being held Wednesday in the Delaware County Jail on Wednesday. Court records do not indicate he has hired an attorney.

Court records say the police officer, who has not been identified, sustained a fractured collarbone and road rash during the May 6 incident. Jackson underwent surgery after police say he was shot after refusing to stop.

Two others in the van were charged with drug offenses and resisting law enforcement.
