FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A three-day fundraiser that saw more than 300 Fort Wayne firefighters collecting cash using their boots has netted a big amount for the fight against muscular dystrophy.

Our Partners in News at 21Alive report the annual “Fill the Boot” campaign raised a total of 107,614 between August 25 and 27.

The money raised was given to the Northern Indiana Muscular Dystrophy Association on Wednesday. The money will fund care centers similar to the one at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, used to fund research and to provide funding for children attending an MDA summer camp.
