PARMA, Ohio (AP): A man who made a fake Facebook page for a suburban Cleveland police department is suing his community after he was prosecuted for disrupting public services and acquitted of the charge.

Cleveland.com reports 27-year-old Anthony Novak’s lawsuit alleges Parma police violated his civil rights. It also alleges that the law used to prosecute him is unconstitutional and that officers began investigating because they were offended by posts on the page.

A Parma police spokesman who also is a defendant in the lawsuit says the facts will show police did their jobs and the department didn’t do anything wrong.

Police and prosecutors say the fake page that Novak created distracted 911 dispatchers who took calls from people confused by the lookalike page.
