Indiana hunters can give back this season

INDIANA (WOWO): Hoosier hunters have a chance to give back this holiday season.

Hunter can donate deer to community members or those in need through two different DNR programs The Sportsmen’s Benevolence Fund and GiveIN Game Program.

The programs allow hunters to share their venison with those who need it. The Sportsmen’s Benevolence Fund, which benefits Indiana’s food pantries, was created in 2008 to offset deer processing costs. More than 70,000 pounds of ground deer meat went to food pantries.

Created in 2010, the GiveIN Game Program helps connect hunters to community members who want deer meat.
