Basement fire in Fort Wayne home Tuesday night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, fire crews were dispatched to 4502 Kenilworth Street in response to reports of a fire.

On arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the house.

The occupants were outside of the home along with the family pet, and informed the crews that the fire was in the basement of the home.

Firefighters made an interior attack on the fire in the basement while other crews check for extension into other areas of the home.

The fire was placed under control at 11:20 p.m.

Heavy fire damage affected the basement and first floor, and heavy smoke and water damage was reported throughout the structure.

No injuries were reported.
