Recall issued for hair dryers over burn, shock hazards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A recall has been issued for a pair of handheld hair dryers that could burn or shock their users.

The Consumer Product and Safety Commission says the recall involves the Allure and Allure Pro 220-watt ionic ceramic hair dryers, which were sold online at the Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and Groupon websites, among others, between October 2014 and August 2018, for between $15 and $80.

So far there have been 193 reports of the dryers or power cords either overheating, melting, exploding or catching fire, with 18 reports of people being burned, and two reports of minor electrical shock.
