It happened Sunday morning on State Road 5 and Old Trail Road. Police say a driver was shot in the chest by 17 year old Dakota Kimbler, the teen attempting to carjack him. 

Somehow the driver was able to get the carjacker’s gun and held him at gunpoint until police came and arrested him. 

The driver is being hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the chest, while Kimbler is being held in the Whitley County jail on a preliminary charge of attempted murder.
