Allen County jury deliberates on triple murder case

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 19-year-old man who is accused of killing three people will learn his fate soon.

An Allen County jury is now deliberating the case of Artavius Richards, according to Fort Wayne’s NBC. He is charged with three counts of murder.

In February, police say Richards and Darrell McDaniel killed 23-year-old Mohamedtaha Omar, 20-year-old Adam Kamel Mekki and 17-year-old Muhannad Adam Tairab in the 800 block of East Lewis Street. Police believe the shootings were linked to a marijuana robbery.

Two of the victims were Muslim, but police say there is no reason to believe it was a hate crime. In March, the Fort Wayne Muslim community was offering a $10,000 reward for information about the murders.

McDaniel’s trial will begin on Feb. 27, 2017.
