FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County is seeking nominations for 26 people to carry a torch through the county for the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay next year.

The relay will go through all 92 Indiana counties and is one of several celebrations planned around the state to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Indiana’s statehood. The relay begins on September 9th, 2016, in Corydon. 

Nominees must be a current or former resident of Indiana or be nominated in honor of a current or former Indiana resident. Nominees cannot have a criminal record and must have the physical ability to transport the torch for at least one-quarter of a mile. Nominations are due Dec. 31st.
