GOSHEN, IND. (WOWO) The city of Goshen has officially sworn in its new police chief following a public ceremony held Thursday evening at the Goshen Theater.
Andy Stephenson was sworn in as the city’s 23rd police chief, with Mayor Gina Leichty administering the oath of office in front of city officials, members of the police department, and community residents.
Ceremony highlights leadership transition
The swearing-in ceremony included remarks from both Mayor Leichty and Chief Stephenson, along with a presentation by the police honor guard.
Stephenson brings more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, with service in both Indiana and North Carolina.
He formally took over leadership of the Goshen Police Department following the retirement of Chief José Miller.

During remarks at the ceremony, Stephenson described the appointment as a significant responsibility and opportunity.
“Exciting night, it’s a huge honor and great responsibility I’m looking forward to getting in there with my team and getting started,” Stephenson said.
