Benefit for SW Indiana Fire Chief’s Child Raises $15K

VINCENNES, Ind. (AP) _ Firefighters in a southwestern Indiana city have raised around $15,000 for the 16-year-old daughter of a firefighter diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

WTHI-TV reports a benefit over the weekend drew more than 500 people and raised the funds for Taylor Pinkstaff, the daughter of Vincennes Fire Department Battalion Chief Sonny Pinkstaff.

Vincennes Firefighter Justin Lowe says fellow firefighters jumped aboard when they heard the news and started setting up the benefit to rally around the teenager. He says the effort drew firefighters from each of the department's shifts as well as their wives.
