C. Indiana Mayor in Hospice Care for Liver Cancer

GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP): The family of a central Indiana mayor says he has decided against further treatment for liver cancer and is in hospice care at home.

Greenfield Mayor Dick Pasco has been suffering liver problems since soon before his 2011 election. His family says he was hospitalized Nov. 30 for dehydration and pain, but returned home on Friday.

The statement from Pasco's wife and daughter didn't give details on his illness, but said they appreciated the public's support and prayers.

City Councilman Jason Horning has been appointed mayor pro tem for the 20,000-person city about 15 miles east of Indianapolis. Horning says the 66-year-old Pasco is enjoying time with family and friends, while meeting occasionally with city department leaders.
