FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council only funded half of the city’s economic development engine last night.

Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. requested $250,000 for their 2016 appropriations at Tuesday night’s Council meeting, but the Council decided to fund half that amount – $125,000 – with plans to revisit the matter later this year.

Our news partners at 21Alive report it’s connected to concerns several area officials had with GFW potentially using taxpayer dollars on lobbying efforts.

City Councilman Russ Jehl called the move an “olive branch” to hopefully spur discussions between the two entities.
