Congressman Stutzman Introduces “GARDS” Act

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Continuing with the partial government shutdown, a local leader weighs in. Congressman Marlin Stutzman joined Fort Wayne's Morning News and talked about the different bills being passed (and not being passed) in regards to government funding, including one to continue to pay active military.

Congressman Stutzman says they've dropped a bill this morning called “GARDS” that would make sure that not just active military get paid but also national guard and air guard personnel in uniform.

“I’ve introduced legislation to fully fund operations and pay for the National Guard during this shutdown. After speaking with Governor Pence and Maj. General Umbarger, I am convinced that decisive action must be taken at the federal level to take care of these men and women who have answered the call of duty and selflessly serve our country and state. If Senate Democrats are unwilling to negotiate on comprehensive legislation, let’s start with areas of agreement—let’s start by standing up for our National Guard.”
