FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One person is dead after a home invasion on the city's northeast side.

Just after 6:00 a.m. Monday morning, police responded to a shooting at Black Bear Creek Apartments on Reed Road, near Lake Avenue. Officers believe two people were trying to rob the home, one of which was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering apparent gunshot wounds. The other suspect got away.

A man, woman, and child were in the home during the invasion. Police say the man was taken to the hospital in serious condition and the woman and child were unharmed. The incident is still under investigation.
