INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The Indiana Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood in a lawsuit filed by a woman and her daughter after the then-17-year-old daughter concealed her age to get an abortion.
Monday's ruling largely affirms a Lake County judge's April ruling in Planned Parenthood's favor.
Both courts found that Indiana law provides Planned Parenthood of Indiana with immunity from civil liability in the suit filed in 2011.
Indiana law requires girls under 18 to obtain a parent or legal guardian's written consent before having an abortion, with some exceptions.
But the appeals court says the 17-year-old borrowed an 18-year-old girl's state identification card and assumed her identify in two visits to Planned Parenthood's Merrillville office to obtain an abortion.
