ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) _ The state Court of Appeals has upheld a 105-year prison sentence for a northeastern Indiana man convicted of fatally shooting another man and shooting at a sheriff's deputy during a chase.
The Herald Republican reports 26-year-old Zao Garth Burrell of Angola had appealed the sentence, arguing he didn't deserve the maximum sentence because there was no lying in wait, multiple gun shots, children nearby, mutilation of the body or other such despicable acts involved.
He said an argument over the weight of the methamphetamine sold to 40-year-old Brent Dombroski led to the shooting in 2012.
In upholding the sentences, the Appeal Court said Burrell showed contempt for the law by shooting at a Steuben County deputy.
