Documents: Blood, Cellphone Link Suspect to Slain IU Student

NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP): Court documents released in the slaying of an Indiana University say investigators found blood in the suspect's vehicle and discovered his cellphone next to the woman's body.

A probable cause affidavit released Monday says IU senior Hannah Wilson was last seen getting into a taxi outside a local bar after friends determined she was too intoxicated to stay with them. The report says Wilson got into a taxi alone outside Kilroy's Sports Bar around 1 a.m. Friday.

Her body was found later that morning in Brown County, about 10 miles from the IU campus. The coroner says she had been struck three or four times in the back of her head.

Forty-nine-year-old Daniel E. Messel of Bloomington faces a preliminary charge of murder. A court appearance was scheduled Monday afternoon.
