Dozens Protest IU’s Shift of Jobs to Temp Agency

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Several dozen people marched at Indiana University's Bloomington campus to protest a decision to move the jobs of about 50 maintenance workers to a temporary staffing agency. The protest started Wednesday near the Sample Gates with about 75 protesters and continued to the building housing the office of IU president Michael McRobbie. Student Aaron Ferguson of Noblesville carried a sign reading “Welcome to Corporate U.'' That was aimed at trying to shame school officials for shifting the jobs to avoid having to add those workers to the IU health insurance plan as required by the federal health care overhaul.
