CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP): Three former call center workers are suing Kroger Co., accusing the Cincinnati-based grocery chain of not paying them for overtime.

A lawsuit filed earlier this week in Cincinnati federal court says the three were recruiters at the chain for five to seven months last year. They were tasked with calling and screening job applicants.

The suit states call center employees had to arrive a half hour before their shifts, return early from lunch breaks and work up to an hour after a day’s calling.

They say they weren’t paid overtime though, and are accusing Kroger of violating federal and state labor and wage laws.

The suit seeks class-action status for other workers in similar situations, back pay, attorney fees and interest.

Kroger officials declined to comment on the suit.
