Flushing system recalled over injury and damage reports

Recall

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A massive toilet system recall has been issued, due to problems that cause the tank to shatter.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says there is a defect in the Flushmate II 501-B pressure-assisted flushing systems, which can burst and thus cause the toilet tank to shatter.

There have been more than 1,400 reports in the US alone of property damage, and 23 injuries, all related to the issue. One person had to have foot surgery.

The toilets were sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s stores, as well as by toilet manufacturers, distributors, and plumbing contractors nationwide.
