Prescription Assistance Program for Allen County Residents

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A drug discount program that has saved residents nearly $2 million since 2007, will continue to help Allen County Residents this year.

According to the Journal Gazette, the Allen County Board of Commissions and the United Way of Allen County will use FamilyWize.  That program saved $1.8 million on prescription drugs for low-income families.

The assistance is mainly for families who need help paying for prescriptions and the United Way has been offering the program for the last 8 years. The statistics show that FamilyWise saved the average person about $17.60 per prescription, or about 32.5 percent of the total cost.

The Journal Gazette reports the program saved county residents a total of $439,923 in 2014. More can be found at www.familywize.org.
