LAPORTE, Ind. (AP) _ The state has frozen the assets of former LaPorte County deputy auditor who it says embezzled about $150,000 in public funds.
 
The Indiana attorney general's office said Friday it obtained a temporary restraining order against Mary C. Ray, who is retired from her position as deputy auditor in the county auditor's office.
 
Ray couldn't be reached for comment because her home phone number was unlisted.
 
The court order was sought and obtained under a 2009 law known as the public accountability law, which allows the state to freeze public officials' assets based on preliminary audits.
