Former Western Indiana Town Marshal sues, Seeks Job Back

SULLIVAN, Ind. (AP): The former town marshal for a western Indiana community is suing town board members, seeking back pay and his job back.

Darrick R. Cullison is suing the Town of Hymera in Sullivan Circuit Court. His attorney, John Bodine, says the town board failed to follow state-mandated procedures when it voted Oct. 23 to end Cullison's employment as marshal of the town about 25 miles south of Terre Haute.

The town board members have not yet filed a response to the suit.

Cullison is seeking his job back, back pay, including overtime pay, benefits and his attorney fees. Bodine says that due to Cullison's employment as marshal for about 10 years he had achieved merit rights that allow him to appeal terminations and disciplinary matters.
