Fort Wayne Buys Former Citilink Transfer Station for $360K

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – The city of Fort Wayne has purchased a former Citilink transfer station at an auction for $360,000.

The public transportation service could use the money acquired at Thursday's auction to purchase four hybrid buses. Each 40-foot bus costs around $600,000 and is expected to last 16 years.

Citilink closed the transfer station in 2012. The site is nearly an acre and is located near the Allen County Jail. The city says it's an important area for riverfront development.

Citilink was expected to approve the sale, which was two years in the making, at a Thursday night meeting.
