Fort Wayne home developed by Frank Lloyd Wright will keep historic designation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A home designed by a famous American architect will keep its designation as an historic place, despite opposition from the building’s owner.

Richard Herber, owner of a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on North Washington Road, threatened to sue the Fort Wayne Historic Preservation Commission and swore under his breath on his way out of their Monday meeting, according to the Journal Gazette.

That’s because the commission rejected a move by Herber, who wanted the house put on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, to delist the house.

Herber says he can’t afford keeping the house in repair due to a disability, and accused the commission of “taking away his dignity.”
