Fort Wayne Gets Extra Manpower in War on Snow

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WOWO): – Fort Wayne's battle against snow got a boost late Sunday night.

City officials announced they enlisted the help of additional plow crews made up of workers from other city departments, including city utilities, traffic and the parks and recreation department. Some private contractors have been brought in to help

The city issued a statement saying, “as windy conditions continue and snow levels reach above ten inches, additional crews are joining in to battle the latest snow storm. The efforts will allow the City to attack the snowfall on multiple levels as we operate under a State of Emergency throughout Allen County. The designation restricts travel to emergency workers only.”

Residents are advised to move their cars off streets to allow snow plows more room to work.
