FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police had to use a “chemical agent” to force an ending to a barricade situation that lasted for more than two hours Friday.

According to a department press release, officers were called to a home on Stony Run Court, a block east of Coldwater Road, at 11:10am over a male subject threatening to harm himself. He had barricaded himself inside a back bedroom of the home.

After a number of unsuccessful attempts to make contact with him, police introduced what they call a “chemical agent” into the home, which led to the male leaving the house at about 2pm. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
